OHIMEGYE IGU SCHEDULE SALLAH ACTIVITIES FOR KOTON KARFE.

On behalf of the entire family of Alhaji Isakoto and His Royal Majesty, The Ohimegye Igu, Koton Karfe (Agaba Idu) and Chairman, Kogi/Lokoja Area Traditional Council wish all his colleagues in the Traditional Council, Sons, Daughters, Friends & Associates, H.E. President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, President & Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Alhaji Yahaya Bello, The Executive Governor of Kogi State & all other top government functionaries at all levels of government good health, fullness of joy, gladness of heart and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Permit me to also use this medium to convey to all well meaning personalities above mentioned that His Royal Majesty has high regards for you and as part of 2019 Sallah celebration, Koton Karfe Emirate Council is organizing a Four (4) day programs at the Palace of Ohimegye Igu, Koton Karfe to show case our culture and rich heritage of Egbura Koto nation.

In view of the above, therefore, the Council requests your support and personal presence at the event slated Insha'Allah as follows:

DAY ONE: 10/08/2019 (Eve-Day)- Traditional Developed Cultural Display by all the talented contemporary Egbura Artists.

DAY TWO: 11/08/2019 (EID DAY) - Joining HRM's convoy at his Palace by 8:30 a.m. to the Eid Traditional Praying Ground along Police Station Road, Odaki Street, Koton Karfe, Kogi State and immediately back to the Palace.

DAY THREE: 12/08/2019 - (a) Presentation of Traditional Royal Foods to HRM by our most special and respected three (3) Women Title Holders of the Kingdom viz: Soroniyaogbani, Iyaogbani & Ojomaogbani by 7:00 a.m. (b) Paying of Traditional Homage by all the Title holders of the Eight (8) Ruling Houses that make up the kingdom, Graded Chiefs, Village/District Heads & other invited dignitaries at Ohimegye's Palace by 10:00 a.m. prompt. This session will also accommodates series of traditional cultural displays.

DAY FOUR: 13/08/2019 - Visitation of HRM to the Eight (8) Ruling Houses in Igu Kingdom, Koton Karfe by 10:00 a.m. prompt. Traditional Cultural display follows at 4:00 p.m.

DAY FIVE: 14/08/2019 - Visitation of HRM., to all the ancestral homes at Okpaka & Girinya respectively by 9:00 a.m. prompt. Traditional cultural display continues.

Brief history of Koton Karfe Emirate . By His Royal Majesty Alh.Abdulrazaq Isa-koto. Kogi ( Koton-Karfe ) The forgotten cradle of Egbira civilization. It is bassically a fishing and farming community, which also had a rich history of iron smelting. But a title holder in the Igwu kingdom said “nobody wants to be a blacksmith these days,” so the huge deposits of iron ore beneath the foothills remain largely untapped. Sadly, their iron smelting heritage for which they became popular has almost gone into extinction. No single blacksmith was found in Koton Karfe, when our reporter sought to see one. The Ohimegye ofIgwu (Koton Karfe), His Royal Majesty Alhaji Abdulrazak Gambo Isa Koto, said Igwu kingdom is one of the oldest kingdoms in North Central Nigeria, spanning over 400 years. UNKNOWN GUNMEN ATTACK KOTON KARFE AND IT ENVIRONS

A Person has been reportedly killed by unknown gunmen while Four others  injured at New layout, along GSSS koton Karfe in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State. An investigation by Egbura Tv revealed that the hoodlums attacked the koton karfe town and Onzo village at about 9:30pm of Sunday night in an attempt to kidnap the chief of Onzo Village and several well meaningful personalities in koton karfe area. An eye witness, who pleaded anonymous said the gunmen who stormed the village in large numbers were unable to kidnap the chief instead, they whisked away with two of his wives and letf four others injured . The young man that was shot death was a bike man who accidentally ran into the scene of the incident. Police have pick up the investigation.
